NJ State Trooper Found Dead; No Suspects Sought
Trooper Scott Graham was found by another law enforcement officer who was passing by shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Graham was in a marked patrol car.
Police say he had a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones says the circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation, but Jones says officers are not searching for any vehicles or suspects.
The 35-year-old Graham graduated from the state police academy in 2001 and had been a trooper for 10 years.

Several Bexar County sheriff's deputies Monday were under investigation for possible wrongdoing involving narcotics cases.
Bexar County Sheriff Amadeo Ortiz said thousands of dollars worth of drugs -- and thousands more in cash -- were confiscated regularly by Bexar County sheriff's narcotics investigators.
Ortiz said some of those same investigators are under the 
"Once in a while, somebody will be tempted and they'll take a bite out of the apple," said Ortiz.
He said the
"We've moved some of the people that are under investigation so that they won't be on the street anymore, but other than that, we're still looking at it," said Ortiz.
Oritz said procedures are in place to make sure deputies are monitored in the locked property room, but said there are "always cracks in the armor."
The property room is behind several locked doors and is under constant video surveillance.
"The narcotics are dropped into the narcotics safe," said Deputy Leonard Crawford, a property room officer.
He said it would be hard for money or drugs to disappear here because there would be both physical and electronic evidence, including both paper and computer trails.
Ortiz said morale is low because of the investigation, but that the vast majority of employees are "good."
For those inclined to steal from the department, "by all means, we'll bring 'em to justice," said Ortiz.
The Deputy Sheriff's Association of Bexar County said it does not condone illegal activities among its members and is looking forward to the outcome of the investigation.

ALLAMUCHY TWP., N.J. — A New Jersey State Police sergeant faces drunken-driving and other charges following a Dec. 17 two-vehicle crash on Route 517 north of Hackettstown, state police Capt. Gerald Lewis said Thursday.
Sgt. Steve Pelligra, 45, of Sussex County, was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, Lewis said. Pelligra is assigned to state police at Hope Township.
He was off duty and driving a Nissan Frontier pickup north on Route 517 when his vehicle crashed into the driver's side of a southbound 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Scott Lehnes, 40, of Vernon, N.J., said Lewis, who is based at state police headquarters in West Trenton, N.J.
The 10 p.m. crash occurred near Johnson Road just north of the Route 517 interchange on Interstate 80.
Pelligra fled after the crash, Lewis said.
The police sergeant was also charged with refusing to submit to an alcohol breath test, leaving the scene of a crash and failing to report a crash with injuries.
A person who is convicted for the first time of refusing to submit to a breath test faces a driver's license suspension between seven months and one year, according to the state Motor Vehicle Commission.
Details, including where Pelligra fled, who suffered injuries and the extent of those injuries were not immediately available from Lewis.
Pelligra could not be reached for comment. It was unknown if he had retained an attorney.
Another sergeant at the Hope Township barracks referred inquiries to the state police public information office at headquarters.
